Today for review I’ve got a wireless mouse from a company called Splaks that’s more meant for mobile uses. The mouse has a tiny wireless receiver that stores in the bottom and it requires a single AA battery that should last for 12 months. The mouse has three DPI levels so you can change it as need be and includes side buttons too. Read on to learn more…
Specifications and Features
The mouse isn’t what I would call small as you might think a mobile mouse would or should be, it’s almost as big as my regular desktop mouse is. The mouse has has dimensions of about 4.5 inches in length and it’s about 3 inches wide at its widest point and about 2 inches high at the highest point. On the top of the mouse you’ll find the standard right and left buttons along wit the scroll wheel but behind that is another button to change the DPI level of the mouse in three levels of 1000, 1500 or 2000 DPI.
On the left side of the mouse is a textured rubberized section for grip and then above that is two more buttons assigned to forward and back by default. The right side of the mouse is just plain. The mouse is black and gray in color with the black parts having an almost rubber feel to them.
On the bottom of the mouse you’ll find four Teflon feet, the optical sensor, battery compartment and the USB receiver that stores in the bottom of the mouse. The mouse uses a single AA battery for power which is not included and it should last about 12 months. The wireless receiver is very small, just a USB connector with a very small plastic piece at the top.
I’ve had this mouse for a little over 2 weeks now as it does take more than a couple days use to really get accustomed to a new mouse.
For testing I used this mouse with my Windows 10 computer and I should note my normal mouse I use all the time is the Feenix Nascita which is my all-time favorite mouse, but the point is that it’s a $100 mouse as compared to this one from Splaks that only costs $10. I should also note that I use the Xtracpads Carbonic XXL as my mousing surface and it’s basically a cloth pad and I’m very happy with it as that’s why I use it.
From my testing I didn’t find the mouse very accurate at all, and it does not seem to like cloth mouse pads as it feels as though the mouse moves sluggishly on the cloth type pad. Just using it on the my desk it worked better than the cloth surface.
Tracking was ok at best, it just doesn’t feel very accurate to me, precise movements weren’t very precise honestly, for example trying to highlight a word or sentence in this review takes what feels like more work then with my other mouse.
Conclusion
The Splaks wireless mouse isn’t bad for something to use every once in a while as needed. The mouse feels well made overall and it’s rather heavy, at least for what is called a mobile mouse I think.
If the specs are to be believed then the battery should last about 12 months, obviously I can’t really test this, but if it’s true the mouse has very good battery life for sure.
I think the average person would be happy with this mouse, but if you’re accustomed to using extremely accurate mice like those for gaming then I don’t think you’ll be happy with this one as it’s not what I would call accurate overall. This also isn’t a mouse I would want to use full time, but for something like using with a tablet every once in a while it should be fine.
Pros:
+Receiver stores in mouse
+Long battery life
+Seems well made
Cons:
-Sluggish feeling movement on cloth pad
-Not very accurate overall
